Some new residents are settling into cities and suburbs around the South and East Coast.

Coyotes, long a fixture in the west and Great Plains states, have crept eastward over the years and have settled comfortably into cities across
the U.S. and are attracted by readily available food sources, coyotes are actively spreading into urbanized areas.Coyotes, are native to all the
U.S. states, with the exception of Hawaii, and their range stretches from Baja California to Newfoundland and Panama to Canada.

Attracted by readily available food sources, coyotes are actively spreading into urbanized areas, he said. Most of the time when humans are
having problems with wildlife, it is because we are encroaching on the animal's habitat, With coyotes it's the opposite. They are attracted to
the urban areas.

Once coyotes get in an area, they are there to stay," he said. "They have plenty to eat in cities, everything from garbage to pet foods to pets.
They have just exploded in cities in the last year or so.The spread of coyotes is the same story in cities east of the Mississippi, including
Washington and portions of New York.It is safe to say that every large metro area across the U.S. has a resident coyote population.

If you have a coyote problem, please do not try to trap these animals on your own. Hire a "WildlifePro", a nuisance wildlife control
professional who is experienced in predator trapping that knows how to trap , and remove them and protect your pets and family.

If you discover coyotes are present in your area keep small dogs and cats inside, keep trash covered and closed and inaccessible to them.Do
not try to interact withh them or be their friend. Remember they are a wild animal and as dangerous or more dangerous then any dog.

Coyotes are known to spread every disease a dog can and unlike pet dogs that visit veterinarians are untreated and are always to be
considered as suspect of carrying rabies, distemper, mange and many other diseases to man and pets.

Bottom line, no matter how much they look and act like domestic dogs, coyotes are looking at their world through wild eyes. Though some
coyotes have chosen to move to the city, they have no sense of proper domestic behavior. They are still coyotes and should be treated as wild.
